Hey Houstonians. I'm going to see U2 in concert at Reliant Stadium this October.

Has anyone here been to an event at Reliant Stadium recently?

How much do they charge if you want to park your car in one of them lots on Kirby?

I've been to the the Reliant Park website, but they don't say how much parking is.

Does any know for sure? Can anyone tell me?

Thanks y'all!

I think it's $8. But last time I was there I parked east of Kirby.

I think it is $10. You would be better off using the Metro rail off of 610 and Fannin. They charge more for events to ride but it would still be cheaper and less chaotic than parking on the Stadium lot.

It's 8. It's doubled in the past ten years. What a rip off.

For George Strait I paid for a parking pass when I orderd my tickets and paid $25.00. Cash parking at the stadium was $30.00. I think you might find the same for U2.

Yeah, parking rates change - should say where you bought your ticket or maybe on Reliant's calendar page for the event you're attending.

I happened to be coming home near Reliant after the George Strait concert (unbeknownst to me!) and everything was chaotic...people driving like lunatics and traffic police doing a terrible job - I'd take the train in a heartbeat. And I've never heard of Metro charging more..

It's different for each event. It ranges from $8 to $25 which is the most I heard of. What rubs me the wrong way is they hold these employment recruiting days there all the time and charge those poor people $10 to park. These people are least able to afford that being unemployed. Besides, Reliant should be letting these people park for free as a good neighbor community service jesture.

Yea you can take the train like some one said. The train cost $2 and it cost $8 to park in their lots. So pick your poison.

Criminals!!!

The Metro parking isn't that cheap on special event days, either. I remember when I parked over there to see Rice-SMU, I was shocked to be initially asked to pay $10. I think that was for Rock on the Bayou at Reliant, but I corrected them as I was going to a Rice blowout-to-be on ESPN. $2.50.

Since I'm a UH system student, me thinks I'll just park at UH-D and head down from there next time.

I just checked the Reliant Park website- it's $20.

U2 360º Tour - Wednesday 14-Oct-09 7:00 PM at Reliant Stadium. A calendar event on Reliant Park (http://www.reliantpark.com/en/cev/706 - broken link)

Well, I don't really know what option I should take.

I'll be driving from Dallas the day before the concert. But I really can't decide which hotel to stay in.

It's a toss-up between the Holiday Inn Houston South Loop on Kirby and the Econo Lodge Medical Center on S Main St.

I'm on a budget. So I'm thinking about staying at the Econo Lodge and forking out the $20 for parking on the day of the concert.

The Holiday Inn on Kirby seems to expensive.

What do you guys think I should do?

If I'm looking at the right EconoLodge (7905 S. Main), it's a little over half a mile to the arena, which seems like a reasonable walking distance.
