Great pics! From the looks of it, you'd never know how hard the city got slammed by Ike not even a year ago.

By the way, in that first picture of the hotel (Ambassador?), in the lower right hand corner, still on hotel property, is what appears to be a concrete building set into that hill of grass. Do you know what that is? It's an old Coastal Artillery gun emplacement from before WWII! The hotel preserved two of them when they built it.

Why would you keep a stingray and not toss it back in (I'm not a fisher -- so that is a serious question)?

RGV great pictures! I was staying at the San Luis last week in Galveston and also took a boat tour to see the dolphins. What was your itinerary in Galveston and which boat tour did you take?

I was wondering that as well. We have gone deep sea fishing in southern California a couple of times; when someone caught a stingray, it always got thrown back in immediately.

Why are you assuming that we caught a stingray? We got nothing.

People on both sides of us were catching and us, nothing.

So, you'll have to ask those guys, not us.

For everone else, thx for the kind comments.

I think it was just a general question - not asking why you specifically would keep a stingray, but why people would in general. One of the pictures has 2 rays hanging up, so it seems they were kept instead of not thrown back.

I have yet to catch anything when we have gone deep sea fishing. Others on the boat? Yep. Others in my family? A couple of things. Me? Nada.
