Default Sugar Land ETJ vs Missouri City ETJ in Riverstone

Can someone help me figure out why people living in Riverstone can either have a sugar land address or mocity address? It seems that everything currently built in the current phase should be all mocity address as everything falls within the mocity ETJ. Will they just move your sugar land address to a missouri city address at a later time?

If the home is in Missouri City ETJ, then when it's annexed it would have to be by Missouri City, not Sugar Land. Unless there is an ETJ land swap agreed upon by both cities prior to annexation.

Remember, postal addresses really don't mean much in unincorporated areas. It usually only means that was the nearest post office to the home.
I was pretty clueless about this sort of thing until we moved to a home with a Richmond address; I contacted city of Richmond about something and was told they couldn't help me and I was out of jurisdiction. Turns out our Richmond postal address really means nothing, and if our subdivision is ever annexed into a city it will likely be Sugar Land. Being that we are closer to Sugar Land city center than Richmond city center probably should have been a clue for me...

Actually, I never knew that, either. New Territory (where I live) has a Sugar Land mailing address and is scheduled to be incorporated into Sugar Land. Maybe your area will be incorporated by Sugar Land, too, and we can all be Sugar Landers.

Thanks! Just a little confused since it seemed pretty random what city postal address you would get. The newer houses seemed to be getting sugar land addresses while the older ones had missouri city address. But all of the houses in the current phase seem to fall within mocity ETJ.
