Default Jazz Clubs

1. I hope this hasn't been asked already. I'm not sure how to do a forum search .

2. Wifey and I will be in the Great State FOR GOOD on September 23rd. It will be good to be home after 8 years away.

3 (and most important). After spending 8 pretty decent years in Philly I have fallen in love with jazz. And not that smooth jazz Kenny G and Sade mess. I'm talking about Horace Silver, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock. I need Blue Note Record jazz artists! YEAH! Basically I am talking about classical jazz.
What is the classical jazz scene like in Houston? I remember there are like 2 or 3 smooth jazz stations, but I need the classical stuff! Does anyone know about this scene and maybe any clubs or lounges that premier classical jazz acts (especially ones that don't have a cover charge)?
Thanks for the help!

Jazz events - Houston Concerts and Clubs

The Houston Press is your friend when it comes to live music. (The online version anyhow - the print version lists maybe a third of what's going on.)
