Default Westheimer construction

I've noticed there seems to be construction started on Westheimer between Fondren and Dunvale. Is this the start of a larger project? I hope not because I take that route often and dread the traffic nightmare it would cause. Richmond and San Felipe are poor alternate routes because they are heavily clogged already. Anyone have any info on this project?

I was wondering the same thing...they just redid the asphalt a few years back when they put in the medians. I cant believe they would spend the $$ to re pave it so soon. It was FINE

I don't see how the Westpark will be able to stay two lanes each way with all these big fancy subdivisions going up in Richmond, Fulshear and even Simonton near the Westpark. That's not even including Cinco and South Katy. Anyway, that's another subject, sorry for going off-topic...

Seems very pointless to me. Are they even going to do any "beautification" in the medians? To me that we be a better use of funds than redoing a road that just got over hauled 8 years ago.

I think the Westpark is confined to two lanes due to the electric and railroad easements on the southside of it. It is going to become very congested very quick. As it is now, it is backed up for a mile trying to exit the belt at certain times of the day. There needs to be a ramp there. But again I think there is a flood control or another electrical easement there.

First they need to remove the strip clubs, sex shops and pawn shops.

They have done some beautification to the medians on Westheimer in the Westchase area. I think in the coming years you can expect more near the Galleria area with the Metro light rail thats expected to build a line that way.
