Default Relocating to Houston

I have to start working in the area @ cross roads of West Sam Houston parkway and bellaire blvd, on corporate drive. Husband would be working out of state and I dont want to drive too much but want to get good schools for my kids 7 year old and 3 year old. I think sugarland is 10 miles away and katy 36 miles away.
1.So are the public schools( elementary school) in sugarland good ( smaller commute ) or its better to take the longer drive and get schools and live in katy
2.how much are the drive time if I have to get to work from Katy or SL and reach there at 9 am.
sorry for the lengthy post. feedback appreciated

Six of one, half dozen of the other. They are both pretty equal in schools and character of the neighborhoods. Pick the one that is closer (Sugarland), you will be much happier.

Yes, we need to know the housing budget. It will determine if you can stay in the city with good schools, or you if you have to go further out.

ALexan at Memorial Bend. Memorial and The West Beltway. Kids can go to Frostwood Elem., Memorial Middle and Memorial High School. These are the best schools in Houston.

On Austin Parkway in Sugar Land they have an apartment complex for 6 month leases. A friend was transferred here from San Francisco and leased there for 8 months until she decided where she wanted to live. It is kid friendly and a bus picks up the kids in front of the complex. The elementary school is 2 blocks away and if you want a private school just down the road..there is St. Laurence which is EXCELLENT. I think the apartements are called Austin Parkway apts. Huge mall is within minutes as is the movie theaters. You are very close to Hwy 6 and that takes you to Bellaire Blvd..Make a right and you travel to your job. Is it Brown and Root? You do not want the schools close to your job. God Luck

I agree with EA you will love these schools much more than anything in SL or Katy and it is a very good commute
