Then you'd have to have all the cross streets going over. I'm just not seeing why it'd be worthwhile. And then remember we do have a light rail kind of in the middle of it all.

Connect what? There are are a series of parks spanning the length of the Pierce Elevated, both linear and traditional parks.

Let freeways be freeways and parks be parks. We've got Buffalo Bayou Park. Just because Dallas gets something doesn't mean we have to try to imitate it just for the sake of imitating it. Lots of positive momentum right now for our downtown, so let's just ride the wave

The light rail can burn; It's useless to me. You could easily eliminate the cross streets by elevating, or even just scratching off Pierce St that runs through downtown. Just elevate the crossover streets above 45 like Main, Fannin, San Jacinto, etc.

The overall plan is to combine Midtown and Downtown. Personally, it's not a big problem for me. However, it would be nice though.

That's what I mean. Aside from being expensive, it will be a traffic nightmare. People use Bagby, Travis, Louisiana etc. to get from downtown to Spur 527 -> 59.

And light rail is here to stay. Sorry boss.

I agree about the traffic, but traffic is going to get worse regardless. Houston is only getting bigger. Ways of eliminating for starters would be to elevate rail and get if off the already congested streets. I love the idea of light rail, but I hate the way Houston executes it.

The street level rail is not a problem there. It's at the Med Center where it's more a problem. There's something to be said for being able to get right on and off without having to climb up an el-train station or down into a subway. I dare say it adds to the atmosphere on Main as well. It works because we have all those alternate streets, and closing them off for an unnecessary and expensive project just isn't what the doctor ordered IMO.

It ain't broke, so don't fix it.

I never said the city needed it; it was a suggestion.
