Thats what I am trying to point out. If it takes 30 to EC then how are you getting to the med center in 30? Then another thread states it takes 20 mins just to get on 10 from the Grand...that leaves 10 mins to get DT or the Med center for all those claiming a 30 min commute. huh?

I know about 10 guys who live in Cinco and Kelliwood/Fry & 99 area. They all report 30 minutes from Katy to EC in rush hour times. Sometimes longer in bad traffic.

I live basically at I-10 and Beltway 8, and have about a 25 minute drive to get into the Med Center. So let me run grab a calculator...!!!

Maybe they drive the Westpark Tollway and it has super power warp speed lanes?

Default More like an hour and 15

Hey guys.

We have been doing this commute for three years. AKA my husband has been doing it and I have been surviving the dreaded hour before he comes home with two toddlers and a baby. Very grueling.

I can tell you with extreme confidence that the commute from just north of Cinco Ranch (memorial parkway subdivision near Westgreen and Highland Knolls) to the Kingsland Park and Ride, onto the bus which takes I-10, stops at Addicks, stops again at another place (which I have never personally even seen), makes lots of little stops, and finally gets a few blocks from where my husband works (Baylor) - and then the short walk from there to his office, is almost exactly an hour and 15 minutes. This is leaving at 6:30 am. He gets there about 7:45 I believe.

Truth is, I am much more familiar with the return trip. Coming home, he will usually call me on his way out the door between 3:55 and 4:05. Most days he gets home between 5:15-25. If it is 5:30 and he is not yet home, I know that he either got the second bus (sometimes the bus is so full it won't even stop!!!!), missed the bus and had to take the train to the transit center place (that place I have never as yet seen with my own eyes), and take a different bus to addicks, and a different one home. Or maybe it's the same one. I'm not quite sure.

He is always home by 6.

But don't be fooled. It is a LONG FLIPPIN' COMMUTE. We have been considering relocating for this one reason. Commuter blues.

I think we will suck it up and try the expensive westpark tollway for a while. It scares me; on the bus I feel as though he is a bit safer. UGH.

This thread started in 2009. The Westpark is not something you can fly on westbound anymore in the evenings. It stops at the Gessner exit, and west of the Beltway looks painful. Once I get to the Beltway exit, Im moving again....but getting to it is a pain. I wish they could build a tunnel or flyover off the westbound lanes on to the beltway....

I commute from the back of Cinco near 1463 to downtown in under 40 minutes (usually under 30) on either West Park or I-10. I either leave between 6:30 and 7am or 8:30 and 9am and return home at either 3:30-4:30 or 6:15-7. I take the toll lanes on I-10. The trick is to never be caught on the highway between 7:15 and 8am and 4:30-5:30pm. The road clears substantially before/after those times.

OP, that'd be a terrible daily commute. Look for something closer in. I cross I-10 on the Hwy 6 flyover at 7:15 every day and just laugh at that parking lot below me.

Since school started last week, I have been getting on 1-10 from Grand Parkway at 6:50-7:05am and traffic is already backed up before the Mason Rd. entrance. I have to wait in traffic just to get to the first entrance of the HOV diamond lane. Summer traffic is so much better!

Wow, it backs up to Mason now? I remember when you had to get to Barker Cypress or Park Ten before traffic begins to crawl.
