good for dallas. I still find it strange how las vegas didn't make the list and it's supposed to be the entertainment capital of the world.

I wouldn't think nightclubs and bars would be a big deal.

Restaurants, sports, maybe concerts, would. More important to me are museums, art shows, parks, botanical gardens, outdoor areas that are beautiful. Lakes, oceans, etc.

I am still in Corpus Christi (two weeks until I move to Cinco) and there is so much beauty in the area, boating, fishing, birds, "The Big Tree" and other things in Rockport, etc. The aquarium is wonderful.

That's okay. Houston made the Forbes top 10 restaurant cities list. No other Texas cities did.

Why is it surprising Dallas and Atlanta would make it?

Houston's probably not terribly far behind.

I bet some in Austin will be none too happy that Dallas made the list and Austin didn't though.

I think maybe its because Vegas offers little in the way of cultural tourism and has no sports teams.

True. Houston is still a city that is alot of fun. I dont think any higher/lower of Houston/Dallas because of this list.

Read the fine print. This list goes by MSA rather than city limits and total numbers not per capita. They total up all the restaurants, bars, sports venues, etc. DFW metro is huge. Just think of all those chain restaurants in the burbs running these numbers up. These lists are usually worthless other than they get people to read them.

Why in the world would we want to be on a list with Dallas? Dallas is Texas. Houston is the world.

Forbe's Best of lists should be taken with a grain of salt.

Once the new Dynamo's soccer stadium is complete that will make 3 major sports arenas in Downtown Houston alone. The ever expanding (and 2nd largest) Theatre District in downtown is also a feather in Houston's cap so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

And then four major sports venues inside the loop while people in Dallas have to drive to Arlington to see the Cowboys or Rangers. Imagine if you had to drive to The Woodlands to see an Astros game. That would really, really bite the big one, wouldn't it?
