What to do when bored in Houston?
What is there to do when bored in Houston?
When I lived in an Apt complex in Medical Center, if I was bored I'd go to the grocery store, Barnes & Noble, or maybe shopping mall. That's it! But in Wicker Park Chicago, I can take a bike ride in my neighborhood and going shopping, eating, and maybe meet people on the street, in a store, or at the park! Houston is really suffering in people hangouts, and going to Barnes & Noble gets kinda old.
So what do you do when you get bored in Houston, - in terms of going out somewhere?

Dang, you beat me to it! Actually, I was going to say something along the lines of, "When I get bored, I go into fast food restaurants and punch random people in the face." but I thought maybe it was out of line. *rotfl* If it is, God help us both!
Seriously though...I am never bored in Houston. Never!

Houston is a boring city, sorry. You could always try going to a megachurch
You should have stayed in Chi or moved to Austin (biggest bike riding/hangout culture in U.S. ) or Dallas (good if you like trendy nighlife).

I was being quite serious. What is there fun to do in Houston that doesn't involve driving 30 minutes and spending chunks of money? Museums get boring. There are very few good parks. Memorial is nice but guess what - it takes forever to get there for most people. I live in supposedly urban Rice Village and have already done everything worthwhile there to do.
Cities should have walkable neighborhoods with exciting stuff to do on the cheap. Houston lacks this. Mabe when I'm 60 I'll enjoy antique shopping on westheimer, but for now that's not exactly thrilling.

You didn't even name anything "walkable" in your first post. That, and you named Austin and Dallas as your two cities. Houston doesn't have as many walkable areas as those two cities? Especially Dallas? lol.

Have you try Borders?
How old are you? Seriously, what about he museums? Parks? Online dating? Pet store (get a dog or a parrot). How about joining church? Salsa class? How about the gym?
