Question Noise from train horn - Hwy 90/Grand Pkwy/FM1464

Hello all. Anyone live close to FM 1464 and Grand Parkway area? Old Orchard. Orchard Lake Estates, Stratford Park area. If so, is it just me or has there been a big increase in trains blowing their horn? Anybody know why? I used to hardly ever hear them where I live. I'm not that close to the RR tracks.

I realize we don't live close to each other, but I have noticed an increase in train volume near me (East End) in the past couple of weeks. The past year has been a quiet (literally) one, so the increase in horns is noticeable. Since all of these tracks are connected, I'm sure we are ALL experiencing the same increase. Perhaps the economy is picking up, and the trains are just one sign!

Since cooler weather is approaching, the air is also getting thinner, allowing the train horns to travel much farther than in the summer.

It has been a bad year for rail, but started picking up again during the summer only to slack off again in August. Rail traffic and shipping rates are a good way to keep an eye on the economy and I'd say that rail traffic is saying what a lot of other indicators are saying right now; things are not quite getting better but they sure aren't getting bad like they were.

I used to live across the street from railroad tracks. Unlike other people i liked it. I'd sit on the computer by my window with it open and hear them. Quiet trains were Amtrack, loud were freight. I heard them all day and night.

This was in San Marcos BTW.
