Why do people on here compare Rice Village to Santa Monica CA?
I've heard this on here a few times and I'm just wondering what the basis for comparison is? They seem nothing alike to me. Rice village is a small, suburbany shopping area with several chain stores. SM with teh boardwalk is a huge outdoor walking area, with thousands of people all the time. IMO Galveston would be more like Santa Monica since you have the strand and a beach (but not nearly as nice until they clean up the ghetto factor there!).

They do? I never even thought of comparing the both.
Santa Monica Pier is a huge attraction, Rice Village is just shopping.

Maybe I'm confusing it with somethingelse but i SWEAR I've seen a few comparisons on here. RV is pretty cool it's just totally different IMO. I'd love it if we had something like SM here.

I wouldn't be surprised at anything.
Just look at the ridiculous posts about Austin vs. --insert CA city here--.

That's the most crazy comparison I've ever heard. Rice Village is NOTHING like Santa Monica. Even Galveston is NOTHING like Santa Monica.

Why would you compare the two? The two states? I'm really bored of it.
You want CA...go to CA
You want TX... go to TX
Pick one and be happy.

I'm not seeing it either. The Peoples Republic of Santa Monica doesn't have a lot in common with Rice...unless UCSM (is there such place?) is an acclaimed school or something.

Wow. I think you may be overestimating Austin just a tad.
