Question Plantation Trails - Missouri City

I am looking to buy a home in Missouri City/Sugarland. Does anyone know anything about the Plantation trails subdivision? I have driven through there a few times, it seems pretty quiet, can anyone tell me is it a good neighborhood, diverse. I also looked in Lake Olympia, but not sure..
thanks

If you are looking around there, I like Brightwater. Huge lake, nice homes, and real close to everything. I wouldn't recommend Lake Olympia.

Could you please elaborate?

For those of us looking at different areas in which to buy a house, it's very helpful to know pro/con reasons (iffy schools, lack of diversity, high taxes, excellent schools, low HOAs, etc...) rather than just "...I don't like..." or "...I don't recommend..." or "...you can't go wrong with that area..". THANKS!

I prefer Plantation Trails between the two.

Plantation trails is part of 'First Colony' so you will get all the benefits of being in First Colony, Lake Olympia isn't.

Plantation Trails is a little closer to 59 if you don't want to have to pay toll fees.

PT is right next to the new Missouri City town hall and police/fire station. For me, it makes me more at ease.

PT is on the Sugarland side of Murphy/1092 which I've always been told it's a little better in terms of being close to the 'shady' side of Mo City.

Not sure if it's good/bad for you but I also like PT being just newly built (2002). Lake Olympia isnt.

And Brightwater is little more expensive than Plantation Trails for comparable homes.

First Colony is great, but unfortunately Plantation Trails is one of the very few subdivisions in First Colony that's not zoned to high-performing First Colony schools. It's zoned to Quail Valley schools on the other side of FM 1092. When FBISD tried to re-zone the subdivision across the creek from Plantation Trails (Oyster Creek Plantation might be its name) to the Quail Valley schools, there was an uproar by the parents. So that one stayed zoned to the schools on Dulles. Plantation Trails should be too, especially since it's on the west side of FM 1092, but it's not.
Brightwater is, however.

Sure but Lake Olympia isn't either and the OP wanted a comparison between those 2.

I also don't think Dulles is that much better of a school if at all than Elkins. They are both very good schools so it's not like you're trying to pick between 2 schools on the opposite end of the spectrum.

True. I'd choose FC over LO. And I did.
The high school is fine. I'm talking about the elementary and middle school. Although they might be improving, when we were living there they ranked quite poorly compared to everything else around us and especially compared to the rest of First Colony.

Thanks so much for your replies this has been very helpful. I like Brightwater too but the houses over there seem more expensive and some have not been updated.I did hear about the Quail Valley Elementary school not being very good.

Don't get me wrong, I think PT is a great subdivision and had no negatives at all (to us) besides the elementary and middle school zoning issue. I think if the developer (which was Kimball-Hill and Gehan Homes I believe) had been able to get FBISD to zone it to Lexington Creek Elem / Dulles Middle instead of Quail Valley Elem and Middle -- rather than being the only area on that side of FM 1092 that wasn't -- the homes probably would sell for higher per sq ft and there would be more homes in there with young children.
