I'm wondering if their stance has changed. The Dr. said this to us in Aug. I see in this mornings paper they are taking steps, with barring under 12 children from all of the common areas and handing out masks. Asking those with symptoms to leave.
More info to come....as we are e-mailing Dr. and clinic to see if they are re-commending the vac.

That will be interesting to hear, SG. I'm not planning to get H1N1 either...but I'd like to know what they say.

Perhaps the stance may be changing due to the unusual complications they are seeing from this particular flu as compared to other flu's -- heart failure, it attacks the lungs, etc. Co-worker's wife was on a vent for 8 days with this flu and will only regain 70% of her lung capacity (after months of therapy he was told).

My husband is one who, I would think, would be one of those first eligible for it. He basically has no immune system. Actually, a boardified enigma to all of those at MD Anderson. They have no name for whatever it is he has. We were truly surprised when the Docs...and he has a full round table of them, said no to our question about receiving the H1N1 vac. They fully recommended the regular, vac, which they gave to us both that last day we were there in Aug.
The e-mail went out...but I don't expect an ans. until at least mid-week. Just the way they roll.

I got my very first flu shot last year and for the first time in a long time...I did NOT get the flu. My kids usually bring it home to me. So I will be going for a repeat flu shot this year and I'll throw in the H1N1 while I'm at it. What's the WORST that can happen?

So will you or will you not take one? If you say no now, if the situation were to become epidemic and more deaths than the media shows - would you change your mind? A co-worker's sister-in-law died from it two weeks ago (although media says only two people have died in Houston so far ... and she isn't in their count for some reason). Another co-worker's wife came very near death and was on a ventilator for 8 days. Personally for me -- the jury is still out on whether I want the vaccine or not.
Talked to my doctor about this on Friday, she pretty much said "no".

Not getting it and neither are any members in my family. Prayer, hand washing, not eating out and staying away from large crowds.

I get the regular flu shot every year and looking forward to getting the H1N1 shot. Gov't should make this mandatory for everyone or pay a huge penalty.

I totally agree with you.

Welcome back, btw. High School seems to be tough.
