You do not say where on the north side, that is a big area. Is it near north, far north, northeast or west? You also don't mention your budget or any of your preferences. Just pointing at a large target, I would say Kingwood, Summerwood or those general areas to the north and northeast or Tomball, Woodlands to the north and northwest.

Northern 'burbs: Kingwood, Atascocita (Greater Lake Houston), Fall Creek, Spring, the Woodlands, Summerwood, Shenandoah and more. You might want to investigate Montgomery County overall (the major county north of Houston), which covers many of these neighborhoods/communities.

Of course, I'm assuming you mean north and northeast Houston. Some northwest Houston 'burbs include: Cypress, Champions, Klein Forest, Fairfield, Blackhorse/Bridgelands (which actually is about a 20-minute drive north of Katy) and Jersey Village.

Depends on how much you plan to spend, education needs, and how interested you are in the 'in town' experience. If you like the suburban or "open space" options, I'd look for burbs in the northern suburbs. If you want to be more centrally located there are different considerations - e.g. price and schools that'll play a larger role in your decision.

Kingwood and the Woodlands are both lovely areas worth checking out but it will depend quite a bit on the route you would like to commute.

Kingwood. Great community. 100 miles of greenbelt trails. Exemplary schools. I'm surrounded by a 200 acre nature preserve, greenbelt trailes, and about 5 minutes to french dining, mexican, asian, sushi, burgers, subs, heb, hot stone massage, shopping, park n ride, etc, etc. 20-30 minutes to downtown.

A lot of good areas listed here - but it all depends on exactly where your job is located. The Woodlands might actually place you even further away. The prices fluctuate wildly from Cypress to The Woodlands. Where is the job?
