The New Bike and Skate Trail???
I'm talking about the new "White Oak Path", that runs from Down town, to about 21st street in the Heights. I understand that they got behind, and didn't get the thing finished for the Grand opening on the 3rd, but where did they go?? They have not worked on the White Oak bridge sense then. They moved out all heavy machinery, and no one has been there sense. The bridge looks like it needs a little more re-bar, and then it looks ready to pour the concrete. what gives??

It might have something to do with the frequent and heavy rains we've had recently. There are different types of concrete, but I seem to recall that pouring in the rain (for at least one of those types) is not a good idea.

The Friday before the opening was due to take place, there were twenty workers, putting down re-bar, in preparation for the concrete pour. There were several pieces of heavy equipment. After Friday--nothin. they just dropped what they were doing, and left. there has not been any work done since then, and I check daily. the rebar is about 3/4s complete, but everything else is just gone. Did they get moved somewhere else? And if so why? finish what ya start, it's more efficient than to have to come back and start again. --

Lets see here, "close to finishing, they didnt want people to use it". I'm sorry, but I thought the idea was to finish it, so People could use it. They already missed the Grand opening, so that may be their logic. Are they paid by the hour I wonder.

It goes under the freeway. The dont want people using it as some portions arent finished. If someone is riding along and hits a part that isnt paved they are worried about lawsuits.

Are you speaking of going under 45?? Since I live right next to the trail, I see People have been using it already for months. The Bridge that will join the Heights to the New "Target Shopping Center", is what seems to be the hold up. People would love to be able to cross it, to shop and dine at all the new Shops. As of now, there is no real safe way to cross the White Oak Bayou, with out a car.
