I'm planning a family road trip in December along I-10 (Gulf Coast, Texas to Florida) and am looking for fun things for active children to do along the way. I don't mind going an hour or so off the interstate for something really good. I see some state and national parks and wildlife refuges in LA and AL, just not sure if there's really much to see at any of them in December.

Also, what's good to do in Florida other than Disney? I'm curious about Ocala National Forest and the beaches on the Atlantic side.

There is a Submarine in AL just off the freeway. My kids loved it.
