The weather in Houston is like California these days!
Thank you god.
Low humidity, clear skies and cool.

Being from Cali, whenever the weather feels this way, I always describe it as "Cali Weather"...

Is this typical for fall/winter? Or is it an exception?
We moved to Houston from El Paso this summer, and this is the first time that the weather didn't feel like a total downgrade (it's like this 10 months of the year over there, and still dry the other two). We were told that the fall/winter weather in Houston would be nice, so is this typical, or is it just an exception?

I know for a fact El Paso doesn't have highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s for 10 months of the year! Come on, it is less humid there but with that "benefit" comes hardly any grass, dust and temps above 100 several months of the year. I'd take Houston's weather any day over El Paso's.
Houston's weather can be quite nice in the fall, like now, but some years we may not get our first real cold front until mid-november. I remember hot and humid christmas days and I remember snow on christmas (2004). So, you never really know what your in for.
BUT, the days of 95 with humidity are probably behind us until next May.

Clear blue sky, low humidity, pleasant temperature (not necessarily 70s high, 50s low), when it's just lovely to be outdoors. I'd say 10 months of the year (and yes, there are dust storms and some humid/rainy days and over 100 degree temps, but that's dry heat and cool nights -- it's high desert). But that's not what I wanted to discuss here. Just wanted to indicate in that post that we're new in town, came from a place where nice weather is pretty much a given, moved at the worst part of the year, and hoping for at least 60% of days with such beautiful weather in the months to come. Is this reasonable to expect? Your post does sound reassuring. Thanks.

You have to admit that you were called out on that post. El Paso doesn't have 10 months of the year even remotely near high 70s/low 50s. I like the high desert as well in El Paso but you were really stretching that first post.
That being said I'll take El Paso's weather any day over Houston's.
