Depends on what you want in a background or what sort of look you are going for. The fountains on the light rail line are interesting. The warehouse district on the east side has a cool vibe -- sleek and industrial or just old and historic. Pedestrian bridges over roadways are cool. Banks of Buffalo Bayou. Elysian street bridge cool place as well. Any of those will give a nice artistic flair to any photo.

Now this I might know a little something about...

Main Street, especially around Main Street Square, is good for street/pedestrian scenes. UH-Downtown commons is up high and is good for skyline shots, with historic downtown in the foreground. I also like Tranquility Park and Discovery Green. There is also the sky lobby on the 60th floor at the Chase Tower. The weather we've had the last couple days is perfect to go up there; you can see a long way.

for something a bit different i always like glenwood cemetery. very old, some of it is kinda creepy depending on when/ where you go, but there is so much beauty there to take in, your composition is easy.

Lunch, mornings, quitting time. The courtyard in front of Chase tower is a good bet. The circular skywalk around the intersection of Smith and Bell is pretty cool too.

West of Main, along streets like Smith, Louisiana and Travis is the general area you want to be for that.

Great shots with skyline can be taken from bridges off Allen Pky. Sam Houston Park is also a pretty place with the bayou in the background
