Info on Northeast Houston
There is a chance we will be relocating to Houston and I was hoping for some advice on where to buy in this area. My hubby will be working down by Channelview so he is looking for the best commute. So far I have been looking in the Summerwood, Fall Creek and Kingwood area. I need help with the pros and cons of each area. I don't have school age children but am concerned about resale. Thank you

Those are very nice areas and you should have no problems with them.

Just about all of the east side all way up to the beltway is pretty geto. La Port is nice & only 15 to 20 min drive

Channelview isn't a good place to buy. The commute from Kingwood or Clear Lake would not be bad and re-sale good. Also, Champions isn't far - and you can get a lot of house for the money. Also, a pretty area, as is Kingwood and Clear Lake. All three are very different - you need to see them.

Since when? The houses in Summerwood and Fall Creek are much nicer than those in LaPorte and you don't have to worry about evacuating. The school district there is also better. I agree that one would not want to live in Channelview, but the areas the OP chose are perfectly nice.

Actually it is about the same. If you live on the north side you do not have to wait for the ferry or pay toll though.

Champions to Channelview is a HUGE commute compared to Summerwood-Channelview.

I would avoid the construction around the unfinish part of beltway 8. There are spots that go from 3 lanes down to 2 and people here in Houston do not know how to merge. You can have 5 cars on a 4 lane highway and when 1 lane is closed they can shut down the entire highway.

Kingwood, Atascocita, Eagle Springs, Fall Creek are all nice areas.
I think Kingwood is the most lovely of the bunch...and it is well established, quiet and family oriented.
What is your price range and will you be looking for a newer or older home?
The houses in that area are typically quite affordable but you will also need to consider that taxes and insurance may run more than you are paying. Regardless, you can get alot of home for the money over there.
Zip codes in the area are:
77339 (closer to the 59)
77345 (back area of Kingwood)
77346 (Atascocita)
***Discriptions of areas covered are general***
Not sure if those zips include Eagle Springs or Fall Creek.
I can't comment on Summerwood because I am not familiar with it.
