You're stronger than me. With as damp as it, I kicked it on at 63. It felt so good, I'm cranking 68. It's gas, gas is cheap...and I'm supporting my industry.

You must not have been in this area very long. One year ago, on December 10, there were very large snowflakes and parts of the city had up to 3 inches of snow. Christmas Eve about 5 years ago, the city had a couple of inches, Galveston had 6 inches, and Victoria had 14.

Yeah, I've noticed that there are a lot of people that just can't stand for us to enjoy the weather. When something is a novelty or unusual, it's exciting. That's human nature.

Well, I just saw something ridiculous on Charlie Gibson's World News Tonight (ABC). He did a spot on the snow in Houston, and showed some pretty good video. But then he said it occurred in a part of southeast TX that is normally hot. Huh? I sent him an email explaining that it is not "normally" hot in December. There have, of course, been record highs in all months, including December. But he's just playing up to stereotypes that the gullible believe. More than likely, someone else wrote the spot (someone who has never been to Texas outside of summer and who has never studied weather data).

Charlie Gibson wrong, against Houston, in the pocket of the agenda??? You don't say.

Set him straight!

I'm not quite sure what you were trying to say, but climate change occurs over very long periods and is based on global averages. A single day, year, or even decade doesn't define a trend.

No one ever said there wouldn't continue to be cold weather. In fact, climate change models predict more extremes, such that in an area like this, we can expect (over the long term) more droughts, more extreme heat, more extremes of cold, more floods, and yes, more unusual events like today's snow. On average, though, over many many years, global temperatures creep upward in the climate change process.

What is most controversial is whether it is natural or man-made. It's both. What I (and many people) struggle with is whether the world's people should try to negate it at great economic cost, or adjust our lives around it (e.g., gradually move away from coastal areas over the next century).

This is off topic, but since it came up, I thought I'd try to explain. Meanwhile, back to the snow....

Sorry that you don't understand what global warming is, but you're not alone. Please see previous post.

No, I'm always in Europe for Christmas. However, I saw it today.

Your right, I tend not to understand fiction.
There are two schools of thought, one just gets more coverage than the other..or should I say more backing. Cha-ching baby.

I believe in conservation, working to keep the planet clean, and working on new energy methods. However, I really am not for getting rid of the entire human race, that "apparently" might affect minute amounts of temperature changes over centuries.

The planet has been in constant change since it's creation. I find it rather egocentric for "modern" man to think they can control it or have any clue of the true changes that have occured over millions of year.

But IMHO, the Little Ice Age Returnith. It never used to snow in Houston, in my or my parents lifetime...who really knows what happened 100's of years ago. There was that one day in the 80's, a flurry day in '92..but 3 times in 4 years. Enjoy. Longer Springs and faster approaching Falls.......gotta love it.

Stay warm people.

Default The snow is gone...

As is the magic it brought to my kids, and to everyone in this forum reading this thread. It made us giddy, gave us legit excuses to leave work, and for kids to get out of school early. I recorded it, pics and video, it is now just a memory.

Let the thread die, but please do not ruin it with Global Warming, Not Global Warming posts, it will get nasty... 'not what this thread was about.
