Does CandleLight Plaza still have the great Holiday Lights?
I remember going to the Candlelight Plaza/ Estates Christmas Lights show. They had arches on the streets and themes. It was incredible. I went back about 3 years ago and participation was spotty. Is it good again or has it gone completely bust?

There is always Prestonwood up on the NW side of town. They have the great homeowner participation, but you'll probably want to go the week of Christmas to make sure everyone is participating.

Yeah, I've heard of that one. But I really just don't want to drive that far out. Just want to pop in a see some crazy lights after a good meal downtown. We have lights around, but they are very mature and tasteful. I want to see some over the top tacky Christmas displays!!

These are farther out but I've heard Pecan Grove in Richmond is great for that, and there is a very good house in old Katy...
Younger family neighborhoods tend to be the best I think, houses in the mid 200's to low 300s range, because people aren't quite as snobbish about the all white lights, tasteful stuff but they do have the money to spend on a lot of lights.

I've been to Pecan Grove several times now (several young Aggies offer hayrides on a flatbed pulled by a pickup.) It's worth it...I believe the HOA there requires everyone to participate, though I do seem to recall a few light-less houses. There certainly are some "over the top" homes. The streets do get crowded though, especially closer to Christmas Day; there are competing hayriders and even horse-drawn sleighs, in addition to regular vehicles. But everyone seems to enjoy it.
