I love 'This is it' soul food and have been eating there for many many years. The ox tails are to die for, but however, I'm starting to think they're getting a little too expensive for my taste. I remember way back when a plate was around $7 but now it up to around $10. Not to mention that it's getting so crowded. Had a line around the building last time I went(then left after seeing the line). So, where else is good for ox tails and how much? Thank you.

Thelmas! It is to die for! It is on Live Oak. Look for a little shack. It is amazing to see the diversity of people they bring during lunch. Very affordable too!

Alfreda's on the corner of Almeda and Southmore in the Museum District. I had a friend who used to go there for breakfast every single morning. Swore by their pancakes. Dinner's good, too. Just make sure you get there in time before they run out of all the good stuff.

I heard it said Fred's now! I haven't been in a couple of years actually. That food is heart attack on a plate, but oh so good.

Been to Thelma's but it's a BBQ place not soul food.

I don't know the name exactly. But there is a place on Southmore and Almeda that is pretty good. I don't eat much Soul Food. And I also don't eat any old body's Soul Food. But, this place was actually good.
