There's the rub right there......

I'm guilty. I have to drive to my mailbox.

No kidding. Once you get far enough from the core of the city, it's not really any more or less walkable than a comparable part of Houston. A buddy of mine lives on Barton Skyway off Mopac and I wouldn't find that a very far walk, relatively speaking, from downtown, Sixth Street and all that jazz...

...if I felt like going for a swim in the Colorado River along the way, after walking down a portion of oh-so-pedestrian-friendly freeway frontage and then hiking through Zilker Park. I could walk from here (South Loop/Main) to downtown (Houston, that is) with less trouble. I should try that sometime.

Oh, I got a 52 "somewhat walkable" score here. This thing wouldn't tell a person how they would have to cross the freeway portion of South Main or walk a quarter mile to get to an inbound bus stop. But when did a quarter mile ever faze me?

I got a 9/100. It appears this site calculates distance via bird flight, as the closest place this site indicated I could walk to requires me to swim a canal. Now if I could fly ... opps, but that ain't walking..

It is an interesting site as it does inform you of places in your area. But in my case .. there ain't no walking to them, unless I wanna spend the day hoofin' it to and fro.

Yep, although I am in a pretty walkable area, I usually find myself jumping on a bike and zipping around for a few blocks instead of walking. Walking is just so boring.

I received a 71/100. That's pretty cool. It would be higher if they actually had most things that were actually in my area, and ones that actually aren't there any more. I ride my bike also, so that makes it easier.

Lol, don't tempt them. I'm sure someone thought of doing it already. But, what score did it give you there? I don't know what's missing from that area either. When I go over there, it has everything you need. I thought it was slightly more walkable than where I live in Westchase.
