For starters...High crime. Bad Schools.

Where will you be working? Greenspoint area? Beltway?

There are many other good choices, that aren't very far from these places.

(This article puts a "good" light on one particular school in Aldine ISD, and its not a great recomendation for the school district. You can get much better value for money, without spending much more, by living just a few miles north in Spring or west in Cypress.) My friend Mr. Football is right...

Aldine ISD used to be considered suburban, but the density increased. The heart of the district is now mostly Hispanic, while the far west (Inwood Forest/Acres Homes area) is African-American.

You can see how the ethnic groups changed through these maps:
* Aldine: http://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/sc...57/school.aspx
* Eisenhower: http://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/sc...66/school.aspx
* Macarthur: http://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/sc...76/school.aspx
* Nimitz: http://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/sc...63/school.aspx

The changes to Teague MS show the changes in the far north: http://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/sc...87/school.aspx

Having grown-up in Aldine, you don't want to live there (though my parents still do). Try Spring or Champions.

Why on earth would you move to Aldine? The Aldine MS I taught in is always in the Texas Monthly list of great schools. But I would NEVER send my kids there. It is full of gangs, saggin pants,thugs etc.. However, Aldine has very high expectations for these gang bangers and alot of them are really smart and will do the work if motivated. It is just the element they live in that holds them back.
