Default Aesthetically pleasing areas of Houston?

Houston is a city I am seriously considering living in when I'm older. Could you guys post pictures of your favorite Houston neighborhoods or suburbs?

Do you want to live in the heart of the city - right by everything or do you want to live farther away in one of the suburbs with the occasional commute into the city - depends on what you like to do with your time and how much money you'll want to spend on living accommodations. I know a few people who move back into the heart of the city as they age because they like being close to the med center should they need to frequent it.

I would like to live in the heart of the city but I wouldn't mind seeing pics of other areas as well just for the heck of it

yes - particularly his photo threads. Do you want to own or rent? And then much do you want to spend per month for housing -- that might go a long way in determining what areas to recommend to you.

My favorite Houston neighborhood is more of an area made up of smaller districts.
Its the TMC/Rice Univ/Hermann Park/Museum District area. And very much aesthetically pleasing.

Agree, jfre does brilliant street-level, walking photo tours

IMO, River Oaks is most aesthetically pleasing part of Houston

But to better understand any region, esp if a curious ?HS/college kid, would take advantage of Net/Google/Bing bird's eye maps to figure out and find images of offices of region's top employers (esp w/high-income jobs); figure out where 22yo yuppies tend to rent apts, drink/dine daily....and can even find images of pkg garages of major office towers/campuses or parking at homes/restaurants/grocery stores....and understand what are daily commutes/lifestyles of "typical" yuppies vs middle-mgrs w/kids vs top execs/entrepreneurs in region

It's all stuff that's available on Net within mins for any clever kid; much easier to quickly find such stuff than in DarkAges pre-Google

Have always found the typical ignorant tourist fixation on skylines and tourist-trap stuff of any city to be rather misleading in assessing the daily QOL and career opportunities of any region

This right here. I love this area and have thought of moving around here when I get older... which is many years from now.

I would prefer to own and the price range would be 250,000 - 450,000

I'm not sure how far off you are planning but you say when you're older so I'm thinking at least 10 years. Which means the areas and prices could change... maybe not dramatically but it'll be different. And $250-450k in 10 years won't likely buy you that much. The Woodlands is nice and that price range will get you something nice. You won't be able to find much of anything around the Musuem District etc however.
