Are you serious?
22 degrees and you're gone? The dead pet thing is not true. That's so not gonna happen.
You have a problem with dying shrubs? Why is that?
They will grow back eventually.
You keep the pipes going by allowing a very thin trickle of water to flow through the water lines.
There is NO reason to panic. It's all good.

I grew up in Michigan where actual temps reach below zero levels. You will be fine. I think our pipes are insulated up north, but just do the trickle of water thing if you are really concerned. You're only in real trouble if your heater breaks....
