Hi,

I know I've compared the awful summers in Houston to what are awful winters here. However, as the time gets closer, I get a little more nervous.

I come from a family of sweaters. No, not the ugly Christmas kind, but the curly haired sweaties who dab their faces with a paper towel or what not.

Is anyone else a particularly sweaty person who has moved to Houston from a cooler region and done just fine? I mean, is it so miserable that you're ready to do yourself in?

I play tennis, although I'm sure I'd just play during the cooler months. Don't want a big ol scene on the courts now!

Any advice is greatly appreciated- I can take the truth.

LOL -- it's a good thing Houston is air-conditioned throughout the city!

Cmon down...everyone here sweats! Plus, we have indoor courts with a/c!

Everyone is different. Some will who can handle the heat will tell you it's not too bad, then there are people like me who cannot heat and will tell you it's awful. It's 70 here today and I don't like it. The cooler temps we had earlier in the month were wonderful and very unusual for Houston. I'm usually ready to do myself in by June

I'm a sweater and I've learned to do deal with the humidity down here.
I just carry a small towel with me in my car or if I'm out and about during the summer.

I'm not a "sweater" but I hate the summers........I'm not going to lie it is VERY hot. I don't go outside if it's not necessary until after 7pm. The majority of places do have AC even tennis courts so you will be ok. If you work outside.......That's another story.

My biggest problem is getting in and out of hot cars. You WILL sweat through your clothes from April to November (or for some of us February thru December) before the a/c kicks in. Keep a change of cooler casual clothes around for before/after work if you can for the drive. And, if you leave a cool place in the summer, the humidity will condense on your body as soon as you get outside, which will compound your problem. Cool beverage glasses also sweat so much that they will drip on your clothes when you drink them. You kind of have to just learn to live with all of this, as there really is no other choice other than stay indoors most of the year.

Same here.

That is probably the worst thing about summer.

I sweat like a packhorse when I exercise outdoors in summer. It wouldn't be normal if you didn't.

I saw a lot of perspiring people in Houston over the last summer. My advice 'don't sweat it'.

Get remote start in your vehicle. Turn it on while walking to it so it can cool down.

Walking to and from places is what will get you.
