Default Private school for 1st grade boy?

We are trying to decide which private school would be better for our 1st grade son (entering 2nd grade). It is down to two St. Francis Episcopal Day School and the Regis School. We are Catholic but also have a younger daughter. Thanks for your help.

My family has extremely good experiences with St. Francis, I would highly recommend it.However, I think you're out of luck for Fall 2010 for most private schools at this point. The application process starts in November, slots filled within the next few weeks.
Regis is a little lesser know. The only complaints I've heard about Regis is that the boys don't learn how to interact with girls, and it's not quite as challenging as some other private schools.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been wondering about that at Regis. We are concerned about sending our daughter to an all girl school, too. We have actually already applied for 2010 and finished our school visits this past week. Our son got really good impressions at both. So now we're just the waiting to see if he gets in but with such quick turnaround needed, I thought I would try to get some feedback on both of them.

Seems like they just had an article in the news about a research project showing negative long term effects for kids who go to schools segregated by sex. If I recall though it was mostly the boys who it had bad consequences for.

You may want to check Westbury Christian. I have two kids there (8th and 11th grade). I'm very with the academics/spiritual/athletic components of the school.
