I heard Houston was very racist. I would stay back in Atlanta.

Plenty of people want to live around other people who are similar. We self segregate all the time in society. Example: Go into any Houston middle school at lunch & take a look at how groups "self segregate". Mostly black kids sit with black, hispanics with hispanics, whites with whites.....and so on.

Dwelling near like kind is common here in Houston, as it is in most US cities. There's nothing wrong with it. The OP asked a fair question. There are lots of neighborhoods here that are traditionally known to be heavy with one race. We all know that.

On the flip side, asking about white schools & neighborhoods on this forum is a big NO-NO . Lot's of double standards on this topic. But, oh well.

The OP will be fine in Houston, no problems at all.

Yes, Houston has a sizable Black population. I think you will like it here. There are many professional individuals here from all ethnicities and nationalities. Also, the population of Houston is getting more diverse from individuals from all over the world.

Just visit here first to see if you like it.

I respectfully request that the moderator close this thread. Deleting it would even be better.
Does this need to pointed out and addressed everytime a question like this is asked??

I think there is nothing wrong with what the O/P asked. It was an innocent question. I grew up in a place that was mostly white with a few black sprinkles here and there, Colorado Springs.

Yes, Houston has a good size black population.

I've seen reports that show slight decreases in Houston's black population from 2007 to 2008. Is that true? Is that a typo?

May have been more of the people displaced by Katrina going back home to NOLA. Just a guess... because many of them who considered themselves temporary have indeed already left.

Eh, what kind of question is that? Not enough AA's here now? Even if it was decreasing, who cares. But I doubt it is...

Hmm...I don't know. Texas has the fastest growing black population after Georgia.
