One single letter.

Or, if you will, a Republic is representative government ruled by law (the Constitution). A democracy is direct government ruled by the majority (mob rule).

I assume, however, that you already knew this and just want some banter.

Fire away.

Sorry buddy,
but the "People's Republic of China" is not a democracy even though it's a republic

China Facts - Government - Branches of Government

Quote:
Similar to the government of the United States, China's government is divided into three branches--the executive, the legislative and the judicial branch. However, the manner in which officials are elected and appointed and the role each branch has in government differ markedly from the United States' system.

Oh, so true to form, you already had your own definitions and just wanted to fling them up for argument by baiting me on it. How do you know your definition is right? I assume you just deem yourself the authority, so we'll leave it at that. Oh, and I'm not your "buddy" because I dont know you from Adam.

Lastly, I guess under your reasoning, the Republic of China and the Republic of Texas are the same forms of government, by definition..which also begs what does Peoples Republic mean?
