When my Mom passed a few years back she left behind a lot of old dresses and purses. Most of it seems to be upscale brands and in excellent condition. I was wondering where you can get the best prices for this sort of thing? Right now I'm leaning toward a place called "More Than You Can Imagine" which seems to get good reviews.

I think 5 to 10 years old, but they're zipped up in bags and in good shape.

My wife and I have found that we often actually net more money by donating clothes then taking a deduction based on the value (even a very conservative value) of the clothes.

The better resale shops don't take things older than a season or two, unless it's a vintage garment or accessory in pristine condition with a designer label (i.e., a Chanel suit, a Judith Leiber evening bag).

Your best bet is to donate the clothes to The Salvation Army, Goodwill, Purple Heart, or another charity and take the tax deduction.

Also watch out about donating old levi's. They often bring a premium. The vintage-ier the better.

I know a lot of people that have used Ashley Zarr (Briargrove Area) and her Ebay consignment business "Junk in Your Trunk" To move a lot of high end retail.
