Default Paper shredding service

Are there any paper shredding services for private citizens (rather than companies) in houston? i have already broken 2 shredders due to my impatience (and wanting to stick 10 pages in at a time). burning the paper isn't an option.

I ran into the same problem. I pay for all of my bills online, but that doesn't stop the idiots that want to send me the latest and greatest credit card application. I take all of the things that I need shredded to West Houston Document Destruction. Not sure what area of town you are coming from but they are located off of Mason road and I-10 in the Katy area. They charge me five dollars a box and you can watch them shred it in front of you.

Enron used to do this quite efficiently, but I don't think their services were available to the general public....

If you have someone else do this, you might as well at least have the patience to watch them shred. I don't know that I'd be more inclined to trust people I don't know to shred sensitive documents any more than I would be to just throw it in the trash. But hey, that's just me. Personally I think feeding stuff through a shredder is kind of fun. Maybe I should start my own shredding business.

Office Max will put your paper to be shredded in locked bins that are picked up by a commercial service (same service used by a lot of companies). They don't shred it in front of you or on site. They charge by the pound. (I know the OM in Meyerland does this, but I don't actually know if it's available at all stores).

Have you tried Fellowes paper shredders? They work great and are very durable.

I understand your impatience with shredders perfectly. I too broke one, probably the same way. I still shred my own, but I did three things that solved my problem. Bought a bigger shredder that could handle more pages , started shredding papers immediately rather than letting them stack up, and most important, I started using shredder oil. I keep the bottle in a large plastic cup near the shredder (else the oil will eventually dribble down the side of the bottle and onto your desk . I squirt it down the length of the opening before shredding very many papers. Can't prove that it helps, but the shredder sounds better and the cost is immaterial compared to the cost of a good shredder, even one bought at Sams.
