I am relocating to the area next month and have previously posted questions regarding summer camp. I really wanted to find something local so my son can make friends - it seems like the YMCA would be a good fit. Here is my concern..

Coming from the North East, I am afraid of how my son (6 going on 7) will be able to tolerate the heat as this is an outdoor camp. On the one hand, I want a camp with lots of physical activities, but I am worried for his safety. Does anyone have any experience with this camp and how they handle the extremely hot days?

Default He'll do fine...

I'm guessing you are talking about the camp in the woods off of Mason Road? We have had our daughter there during the summers. Yes, it does get hot, but they cool them off with water, and the kids that work there are very good and will not let a child overheat. If someone looks like they are having a problem, they will be taken indoors (where there is AC of course).

Just a side note... don't plan on keeping your vehicles clean! That is the only thing I hate about the place, it's a dirt road to get to the camp, and your car gets dirty/dusty
