Call them and talk to them. Most will explain things and work with you and do what they can. They know if it is a crazy bill and insurance is not covering it they will never get paid. When my wife had her surgery even with insurance Mayo worked very hard resubitting things under different codes to the insurance and auditing the bill and was able to get our portion cut in half.

Just make sure to start off nice with the person on the other end of the phone. Someone right off the bat that is irrate they are not going to go out of their way for you.

The reason a tylenol costs $30.00 in the hospital is because so many do not pay their bill(many are uninsured), so the money has to come from somewhere. Doctors, nurses, etc. need to get paid.
