I have always felt it would be better to be on a lower floor in case of a power outage and the elvator not working. But maybe there are more compelling reasons to be high in a high rise that I haven't considered. What do you think?

Probably should have said other than the view, which is a given.

Security. Very difficult to carry stolen items down 20 flights of stairs, or use the service elevator (security would know).

Many people just really like the cachet of living in a high rise. I loved living on the 21st floor. I had a spectacular view day or night, and it just always made me feel good to come home to it.

The chances of a prolonged power outage are pretty slim, and you won't want to be out anyway. Have supplies like you would for a hurricane. Look on the bright side - looters will look for easier targets than trying to carry your 48" flatscreen down all those stairs. And if you have to go somewhere, well, a little exercise won't kill you.

Found out from people that it was scary to be up high during a hurricane.

They're probably safer up there. They won't have a tree falling on them.

Just have an interior closet or bathroom or something without windows.

Won't have a tree falling on them - but they saw plenty of large things flying through the air that they were afraid would hit the windows. Also could feel the building swaying.
