There's clearly no shortage of either Thai or Vietnamese restaurants in the city, but my impression is that the rest of Southeast Asia isn't as well-represented. (I've left out Bruneian, Cambodian and Laotian restaurants because I did not encounter those even in NYC).

For Malaysian, try Banana Leaf on Bellaire, just east of the Beltway.

meh on (vietnamese run) banana leaf but thats better than that "real malaysian" restaurant near fondren/bellaire

cafe singapore on bellaire and dairy ashford (might want get the chinese massage next door. my wife and mom loves them)

these are places I wont come back to for another year i guess

sadly i cant even recommend a filipino restaurant here. maybe the canteen in HEB bellaire/6 or the one in VietHoa food court.

Noted. I am pretty close to that area. I have never eaten Malaysian food.
