Default Water softener repair

Does anyone know of a reputable contractor who can repair a Culligan water softener (besides Culligan?)? I inherited the water softener with the house. My mother used to own the house and had it installed roughly 13 or 14 years ago. Last summer it stopped working. It wasn't using any salt. Right now we have it shut off and the bypass switch turned on so the water doesn't go through the softener.

I called Culligan (big mistake!) and requested one of their service techs come look at it and give me an estimate. The tech came out but stayed in his truck. He never looked at the softener. The territory manager also showed up and wouldn't allow me to talk to the tech and proceeded to give me a very, VERY high-pressure sales spiel for a new one. He made me quite uncomfortable actually.

I would prefer to repair it rather than replace it if possible. I am looking for someone who won't give me the high-pressure sales pitch and who can fix the thing. Thanks!

Blessings,
pnc
