Here's probably the most appealing project. It's located at Weslayan and W. Alabama, will be 35 stories, and have 250 apartments.

Love how the renderings are packed with pedestrians. Seems like Houston is pretty saturated with these types of developments.

Architects love the idea of a thriving, urban streetlife in Houston, however that's not going to happen unless we have a decent public transportation system... Light rail is a joke. What we need is an above-ground rail system that doesn't have to compete with auto traffic on the street level. I'm all for mixed-used developments though as they are one step closer to creating that density that Houston needs to become more pedestrian friendly. The ones that I have seen apear to be pretty successful for the resident businesses, but there probably needs to be a cluster of them to really get a decent amount of foot traffic.

TMC does this very well. Light rail works but the only way it will be a part of everyday life is major public transportation infrastructure. Subway is best.

not going to happen people, with the subway so people need to let it go already, the only hope for houston to have any decent mass transit is to work with what we already have.. someone preposed converting sections of highways into rail ways which makes some sense, do we really need a five lane section, to deal with Houston growing traffic the developers soultions seem to alway be add more lanes, instead of how do we take more cars off the road

It's actually the best solution.
