I am looking for an electrician (preferably in Katy) to do a small project around the house.
I am installing 2 new ceiling fans and would like to add an additional switch so one switch just controls the fan and the other just the light.
Any recommendations?

Try Angie's List. I bought a new houe (resale) and needed minor electrical work. 2 ceiling fans were not working (wired incorrectly), their was a short in one of my bedroom closets, circulating water pump for pool had exposed electrical wiring and the outdoor light switch required weatherproofing. I called Aspire Electrical (281-242-2471) and Baker serviced my house. He completed all of the work except for outdoor light switch (it just needed a cover and told me to go to Home Depot and purchase one for $3) and charged me $137.50 - $15.00 (coupon from Angie's List) = $122.50.

Seems like a decent price.
Thanks.
Are they located near Katy? I only ask b/c I would hate to have someone from across town come here and charge more b/c of the drive.
Anyone else with any suggestions?

Not sure. But I live in Richmond, a hop, skip and jump from Katy.

Okay, so he should be from around the area.
You're right, Richmond is literally just across the street from me.

You may want to sign up for Angie's list. Membership is less than $9.00 per month. I have used 3 referrals frm the list and each had a coupon ranging from $10 to $15 each. Basically, my coupons have paid for the first 3-4 months of membership on Angie's list.

Interesting comparison. You got 3 referrals.

And my company got 3 reviews and ratings on Angie's List.

Two were from actual customers. Both gave me A's in every category, with added positive comments, and stating they got more than their money's worth.

A third review, was posted last October in between those. It was from someone who never even called us. Simply emailed. They did not like that I offer free estimates as long as bids are from licensed contractors if the work requires a license in Oregon. So this person put in an "F" report after they declined a free estimate.

That's a pretty wide gap between the two extremes.

You are correct. You can rate a company even if you called them. However, you must indicate in your review that serfvice was not provided. Angie also have a disclaimer stating that weight should be given to reviewers who actually use the service.

This is the reason that I read ALL of the reviews from providers on Angie's List before I make a choice. I understand that some people are impossible to deal with so I look at the overall picture. This is similar to what I do when I purchase something from a seller on E-bay.
