Default What is Houston's greatest suburb(s)?

What is Houston's greatest suburb(s) based on shopping, schools, housing, proximity to downtown, etc.?

You need to add Clear Lake and Kingwood in there.

And if you are talking about suburbs, you have to add West U., River Oaks, Memorial and the like. Currently your list is just other towns and MPC's in other towns...not Houston's suburbs.

So, my favorite Suburb is Memorial.

Texas City is not a suburb of anything but I'll vote for the ol' hometown just because you put it there.

It's not! What are exactly Houston's suburbs, then?

Suburbs are generally places where people live and commute from to a larger city, Houston in this case.

Contrast with a place like Texas City, which has little connection to Houston other than being somewhat close to it and being counted in the greater metro area. As for who goes where to work, there are probably more people who work in Texas City who do not live there than people who live there and do not work there.

Technically it's "Sugar Land" two words.
Also -- Sugar Land, Katy, Pasadena, etc. all started out as their own cities that just sort of merged with Houston as it grew. Of course if not for Houston's growth, they wouldn't be as large/developed as they are.
Cypress, The Woodlands etc. did not... they are truly suburban results of Houston's growth.

I'm reading the responses and I can't understand any of them. Houston has many wonderful suburbs. My question would be...what is your biggest concern? Close to work? Close to family? Next to consider...highly rated schools?
