Yes, Pasadena does receive an undeserving bad rep but I'm sure it is by people who really does not know about the city and get their information by word of mouth. I agree on the north side of Pasadena you deal with the stinkadena image but it really is not that bad and seldom there is an odor. It is more of a joke. The north side is in a revitalization movement and it is great to see, although I wish the progress would be a little quicker. There are many streets and sidewalks being rebuilt and with the landscaping some areas look very nice. Pasadena loves their parks and the city places a lot of money into them to make and keep them beautiful for all to enjoy. The new police station and library are great, they are something to be proud of. We also have one of the best police and fire departments in the Houston area. The city has a very active senior citizens program and places a lot of value on their contribution to this city. The city tries to keep the tax base low and welcomes all residents to participate in city government. There are many good things in Pasadena and as much as I hate the refineries here they are a good support for this city and they donate a lot of time and money to this city. I don't know if the north side will ever look as nice as the south side but there is definitely a lot of potential here. I think it would be great to turn some of the older north side homes that the city purchased and boarded up into a resemblance of the old town spring shopping experience, it would add more jobs and be a great tax base for the city bringing people into the city for a unique shopping experience. There is a lot more to this city than most people know..

I'd have to say its a mixbetween north Pasadena and Baytown. It's a cancer haven and often smells pretty unpleasant. The malls in both of these suburbs look old and depressing like they're still from the 1960s.

I think they are referring to the "city of South Houston", and from what I have seen it would get my vote as among the worse:
South Houston, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"South Houston" as in the Southern part of Houston as a geographic area includes Clear Lake which overall is really nice.

Bellaire and West University Place. Great Location and attractive looking area, but horrible people and don't dare be caught around after dark if you're black (No; this has nothing to do with the baseball dude getting shot; I know from personal experience).

If memory serves, Southside Place and Bellaire housewives had to drive their "help" to the bus stop if they worked passed sundown. River Oaks was also very restrictive. My own kids drank from the colored water fountain at Weingarten's. Coming from a long line of abolitionist I thought that was awful. We moved to St.Louis and my deed stated that we could sell only to white people. I would not pay our assessment the whole time we lived in that house. They got a lien on the house. That was 1970.

It's more of an issue with the police department in that area than with the residents though.

"Fast Talker" (very appropriate here)

You can put lipstick on the pig, but you still don't want to take her to the prom.
