Default Things I will and will not miss about the Houston area.

I am moving away from the Houston area next weekend after about 2 1/2 years. I will be going to Illinois for new work. A co-worker asked me, "What are you going to miss?" and it got me thinking. So here is my list.

What I will miss:
Texas Renaissance Festival
Cheap gas
Authentic Mexican restaurants
Extremely active Craigslist
Nice winter weather
No income tax

What I will not miss:
Interstate 45
Fire ants
Tex-Mex restaurants
Roaches of all shapes and sizes
Lack of sidewalks and/or bicycle infrastructure
Generally higher number of religious zealots, whatever religion they may be

Anyone else, feel free to post unique things about the Houston area that you either love or hate, preferebly things that are unique to the area.

I hope you have a map and enough gas to escape the things you won't miss. Too funny...

Reasonable likes and dislikes. I think you'll have to leave the US to get away from your last one though. Just the other day I saw a sign that said "Turn to God or burn in Hell."

No, you don't have to leave the U.S. New England is the most secular and least religious part of the U.S. Not too many religious zealots up here (unless you count Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins fans )

I see religious zealots all over Boston, so I don't know what you're talking about. I think its just that some of them are hobos/crazies/etc. It's true that there are just some regions that a more religious more on a spiritual and tolerant level, rather than an evangelistic, chastising one, which I think New England is, for the most part. But it doesn't change the fact that religion still has quite a significant hold on this country. However, research does show Catholicism is shrinking in New England.
