Houston ranked one of the top cities surviving the recession

MainStreet.com published a list of 20 cities where the recession is ending and where jobs just might be available.
It's no surprise to see Houston on this list. We seem to be on the radar of every group that studies and ranks cities on things like employment, retirement trends and home prices.
All the major Texas cities made the list, as did some smaller ones like Fort Hood and McAllen.
Here's MainStreet's brief write up on Houston.
Again, the resiliency of Texas is seen in the Houston area. There is a good job growth forecast for the next three years, and Houston even saw a positive ranking during 2007 through 2009 -- during the height of the recession. And it looks like Houston is ready to hit a period of economic growth running.
Barton Smith, Houston economist and retiring head of UH's Institute for Regional Forecasting, recently proclaimed a similar sentiment.
