This isn't true. DFW is large just like Houston, and they have sirens that you can hear clearly. Houston just doesn't need sirens like they do in DFW because we don't get tornadoes as easily.

I agree with what the other posters have said. If you have a good flashlight, fresh batteries, and maybe some candles for when the power goes out, you'll be fine. We usually keep an unopened case of bottled water on hand just so we can keep the refigerator closed.

My son and I were camping during this weekend's weather, and didn't have any problems. If the thunder and lightning don't bother you, and you're not in an area that floods quickly, just enjoy the show....
