These stops are setup at the end of the HOV lane, just before downtown. At that point, there is no speeding, no entering/exiting, no aggressive driving, etc. Just cars lining up to enter downtown.

Several people mentioned inspection/license violations. While this could certainly be the case, it seems like a lot of trouble for minor violations. The only violations that make sense from a time/money POV are HOV violations.

It seems you have a problem with the police. So what's your solution? No police?

I'm pretty sure I don't want to live in that world.

That's assuming they weren't 'tagged' to be pulled over by patrol cars further up the line.

It's the same thing the FHP used to do when I was in Florida.

They would have troopers on several over-passes and onramps over the course of several miles of highway and they would observe, radar and call down the vehicles to be stopped to a small pack of FHP at some 'end' point. If you were still able to be located, they simply flagged you over. Just cause you don't see the action at that exact point, or the opportunity, it does not mean they were not in violation along the way.

A bit unrelated, but over the past week during my PR to work, i've noticed some motorcycle cops checking for speeders on the frontage road while in the parking lot of the Momentum BMW dealership on 59s. Sometimes they will move a bit further down.

Also, they had a few hanging out at the Cadillac dealership right before the entrance ramp to 59s southbound. Just be careful.

I want to ask if it is legal for these piggies to sit on private property while extorting money from us law abiding motorists. I feel like it's not but when they write the laws as they see fit to suit their quotas I guess us peasants don't have a chance. Does anyone know if technically they can do that?

Who said they were on private property? He said they were on the frontage road. That's state/city domain. As are most easements. If I recall, if you maintain a public driveway with public access you cannot deny law enforcement access for enforcement purposes.

I know, you've got this big problem with 'the man', I don't get it. Maybe if you actually were a law-abiding citizen you wouldn't feel like they were oppressing you. Simple fact is, if your not breaking the laws of the road, your not paying fines. So either you need to change your driving habits, or you just like to whine and moan for no reason.

Thanks man. That answers my question in a real Sheep like manor. Try again. I really would like to know if they can hide on private property. Just a curious question.

The cops were parking on the dealership lot, but not sure about the legality. I would think that the dealership probably doesn't have a problem with this anyway.

Sheep like manor? lol Go look it up yourself, you'll be surprised what you learn.

Besides, what's the problem? I'd gladly donate my driveway and property immediately adjacent to a major roadway if it's to nab wreckless careless idiots. Do the crime, pay the fine.

I'm far from a perfect driver, but haven't had a ticket or any other fine or infraction in four years. And those I had before I know exactly why and how I got those and while it sucks to have to pay a fine, I know it was my own stupid fault.

I'd love for the cops to sit out in front of my house and ticket the drivers speeding through my residential neighborhood, the ones who think its ok to go 35-40mph on streets with a 15mph speed limit. There are way to many kids about for that, every time I see it I worry about the kid trying to cross the street coming to and from school. The elementary school is in the middle of a master planned community and over half the kids walk or ride bikes every day.
