Wait, I take that back, We aren't doing anything wrong. Sometimes people just don't know a great thing when they see it. So let Dallas have In N Out and the rest. If mom and pop want to run it, let em. I'm satisfied with Onion Creek Cafe any day!
I also heard yesterday that a smaller version of Legoland (Carlsbad ) is slated to open in the DFW area. Nothing on the calendar for Houston though.

Why is it that Houston is often the 2nd or 3rd option over DFW and San Antonio for businesses? I understand why San Antonio gets a lions share of entertainment venues due to already existing and well-known attractions like the Alamo and The Riverwalk. But Grapevine?

In-N-Out Burger has permit to build in Frisco | FRISCO Blog | dallasnews.com

---just saw the above blog post that In-n-Out is rumored to be opening 8 locations in the DFW area by the end of 2011. EIGHT. I find that very hard to believe unless they've had a drastic change in their business growth plan.

This is addressing a different angle, but I'm with you on the mom 'n' pop options. There is a place for familiar stores/brands/restaurants, but sometimes I'm just plain ol' sick of CHAINS. I love In 'n' Out more for what it represents in my life than anything else. Sure, the food is considerably better than most fast-food places I've encountered, but I'd much prefer to give my business to a local business. That goes for all kinds of restaurants (fast food up to fine dining), as well as other retail points. I'd just like to have the *option* between mom 'n' pop Burger Fresh and chain like In n Out.

Houston has Carl Jr. locations under construction right now. plus, houston does have some things that Dallas doesn't. Never really seen Houston as a second option to San Antonio though.

Where are these locations being built? I would like to know so I can be one of the first in line when they open!

I'm not sure when they are all suppose to be open, but I know the one in the Copperfield area is almost complete right now. There are other locations in Missouri City and Pearland that I know of, too. Not sure how far along they are.

Dallas receives more because it's more mainstream. That's why people say Houston has a laid-back feel to it because even though we tons of fast food chains; we also have tons of mom n pop places. When my family comes to visit Houston; it's rare they ever eat at a chain resturant. Complete opposite in Dallas.

There's one being built near the intersection of Texas Hwy 6 and West Road.

Just saw the sign for one at Hwy 6 & Murphy Road (at the front of the Lowe's complex). The building is up.

Oh, no...sorry...didn't mean to get anyone's hopes up. It's Carl Jr's. No sign of In n Out here.
