For whatever it's worth DFW for your IT Background & skill set is gonna be a better market overall for the IT and the Tech Industry - And it's going to continue to get better with the low tax base...AT&T is bringing over the rest of their employees from S.A. this Qtr which will just add to the huge growth in the area already - The company I work for meets with public and privately held Tech Companies throughout the country the top tech areas for your specialty.. San Jose- SF, DC, Boston, Dallas, San Diego, Seattle, Austin, Raleigh Triangle & Overland Park KS- North Dallas Tech Corridor is a great market. Houston is getting better, but still several years away. A few companies to look at when you ready to leave FL....Monster - Dice...?

How is it going to get better if you keep pushing potentially good people up to Dallas?

moved to Houston about 2yrs ago from Toronto, both hubby and I are in IT, took him about 2 months to find a job..there are lots of IT jobs no doubt however networking with employment agencies is better as most times they have the market cornered in certain geographical areas..try COMSYS for downtown jobs (thats who he found his with, I have a contact if you need it) or Robert Half Technology for The Woodlands area.....be firm in what you are looking for as they can be all fluff at times..that's their job, to find you employment and sometimes you have to insist they do it !!...also look at at Harris County jobsite
hope this helps..one thing about IT is that there are always jobs as opposed to other fields..Dallas is a good bet for the IT industry however it depends on your lifestyle and what you find appealing..we preferred Houston for the more metropolitan feel, friendly people, great restaurants..

thanks GTBoyz.
Yes, every now and then I am scanning through Monster and Dice and Linkedin etc to see what kind of IT jobs in Houston.

So far I did not see any of the Big Oil/Energy companies posting jobs, I would think most of them are getting placed either internally or through a recruiter.
