Hi, we are considering moving to Houston. Me and my wife both are in IT fields.

Any suggestions on going about job search etc (other than posting resume in Monster or Dice)? We have few friends in Houston but they are not in IT.

Hi, the IT market here is growing and it's a good market here.

I would recommend the two best cites for this are:
Dice.com
Monster.com

Both of my parents are in the IT field as well, and they both use the above cites the most. I would also recommend contacting a recruiter/head hunter, and teaming up with them. It will greatly increase your chance. Even though the market is better in Texas than most other places, you're still bound to find heavy competition. So having a good recruiter will help you a lot.

Good luck, and wish you all the best!

Houston Technology Center, when my company transfered me to Houston we joined the HTC, this is definitely something you should take a look at even just to sign up online for free- Lot's of your peers - Analysts, IT, Developers, Software specialists and large Houston corporations do business & have events at HTC - Check out the Houston Technology Center - Assisting Houston Emerging Technology Entrepreneurs site...They work pretty closely with the Biz Journal as well - Good start for you - most IT jobs that will pay over 85k are in the oil & energy industry..good luck and BTW, I love your Florida beaches.

I am into .NET (ASP.NET, WCF, REST, Azure etc) and currently stepped into WWF and WPF for current project, (will be using .net 4.0 CAL etc)

My wife is Java/J2EE/Websphere/Weblogic/Prtal ..all "J" blah..blah stuff

We both have been working for more than 12 years together..I met her in the office..and went for a date and ended up marrying..

LOL..no we are happy !!

I have set around 6 months (I do not want to ditch current employer halfway through the project) to move..either Houston/Dallas.

I am sure it is too early to look for a job there..but I just wanted to get a feel of everything
