At the time of the reporting, 130 women were being held in Harris County Jail on charges of prostitution at a cost of a little less than $50 a day.
Maybe if they were turning tricks for the city, kind of a work-release program, the tax issues would be solved. I can see the Headlines "Streetwalkers improve sidewalks"

Yuck, casinos. That's all we need; another industry to come in and bring more problems.

They should turn the Astrodome into a huge casino. I am tire of making that weekly drive to L.C. and back. Heck I'm driving all the way up to Choctaw casino in OK next week for the wsop circuit.

Well, Casinos have been considered locally (mainly in Galveston) but it was decided that gambling could ruin the city ascetically even if it helped it financially. The main point is Galveston wants money but they don't want the problems that gambling could bring to the city. Galveston wants to stay family friendly and casinos in general don't say "family", they say "waste your money till you're a homeless person who can't leave town", they are afraid that they might loose their entire tourist base that they rely on, the families. You may not have a problem with casinos but I guarantee there are tons of people who do.

Jesus said that some prostitutes are gonna go to heaven.... so it can't be that bad.

Matthew 21:28-32 - Bible Gateway

The Parable of the Two Sons

28 “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ 29 “‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.
30 “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.
31 “Which of the two did what his father wanted?”
“The first,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

Houston could use something.

I didn't miss Astroworld until it was gone. Now I have to schedule going to Fiesta Texas to get on a roller coaster. I really miss amusement parks.

Splashtown is so ghetto now and Schlitterbahn in Galveston is blah. After going to the real deal in New Branfels, Galveston is like Galveston Bay vs the Caribbean. No comparison. Decent but not great.

But if i Galveston, I'd rather be in some nasty chlorine than that muddy mess they call a swim-able beach below the seawall.

That is too funny and speaks to what people are up against when dealing with locals.

It'd be nice to have some real nice casinos in Texas. When i lived in houston, i ended up going to lake charles with the wife to have fun and gamble. Now that I'm in San Antonio, they only promote Lucky Eagle in Eagle Pass, which is a dump and I'd never recommend it to anyone...

Oklahoma has some great casinos as well....
